Dr. Ernest Cholakis
Dr. Ernest Cholakis obtained his DMD in 1982 from the University of Manitoba and his MBA in 2002 from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. He had attended the very first University based "Esthetic Continuum" at Case Western Reserve University in 1992 and followed that up with a continuing education certificate in Cosmetic Dentistry from UCLA in 1998. He then attended the Misch Institute program in Implant dentistry at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Cholakis received his fellowship in the International College of Oral Implantology in 1996.
Since that time Dr Cholakis has placed and restored thousands of dental implants, making him arguably Winnipeg's most experienced dentist in placing and restoring dental implants. He is an instructor for Nobel Biocare - the worlds oldest and largest dental implant company in the world. In the last two years he has mentored over 45 dentists in placing their first implant.
He maintains a private practice in Winnipeg devoted to implant and fixed prosthetic dentistry. Academically Dr Ernest Cholakis is an Assistant Professor and Co-Director of Dental Practice Management Studies. He is also the Founding Chairperson of the Deans Advisory Board, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Manitoba.
Dr Cholakis conceived and founded the Manitoba Dental Association's "Open Wide" Campaigns that have provided free dental care to thousands of disadvantaged Manitobans.
He is a recipient of Her Majesty's Golden Jubilee Medal for his contributions to the dental profession and his community.
Dr. Sam Paulos
Dr. Sam Paulos received his B.Sc. in Biology from the University of Victoria in 2005 and obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Dalhousie University in 2011. Sam was recipient of the Nova Scotia Dental Association award for greatest proficiency in Occlusion and Dental Anatomy. He is currently a part time instructor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at the University of Manitoba. His interests in dentistry run deep as his father, Dr. Dino Paulos, an accomplished dentist, has lectured nationally and internationally in the field of Biological Dentistry. Sam’s areas of interest are general dental care with a particular dedication to cosmetic procedures. Outside of dentistry Sam is an accomplished musician and vocalist. He is pleased to welcome new patients to his practice.
Dr. Anastasia Cholakis
Dr. Anastasia Kelekis-Cholakis obtained her BA from the University of Winnipeg in 1988 and her DMD and Diploma in Periodontics from the University of Manitoba in 1992 and 1998. She also attended the Misch Institute Program in Implant Dentistry at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Cholakis is a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. Dr. Cholakis specializes in periodontics and implant dentistry and is an Assistant Professor and the Graduate Periodontal Clinic Director at the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Dentistry.
Dr. Georgios Giannelis
Dr. Georgios Giannelis received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with distinction and awards from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) in 2007. Dr. Giannelis continued his postgraduate education at the University of British Columbia (UBC) to specialize in Periodontics and Implant Surgery, supported by scholarships from three independent foundations. His studies at UBC led to a Diploma in Periodontics and a Masters degree. He was awarded the “Kathleen McAnulty Memorial Prize in Graduate Periodontics” for outstanding overall performance in the graduate program and the “Nobel Biocare Achievement Prize” for outstanding theoretical performance and excellence in implant surgery. His involvement in research on the field of wound healing led to the “George S. Beagrie Scholarship”. Dr. Giannelis takes pride in teaching and as recognition for his contribution to the education of the UBC dental and hygiene students he was given a “Teaching Award”. He is being appointed as a part time instructor in the department of Periodontics at the University of Manitoba.
Dr. Giannelis is a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and a member of the American Academy of Periodontology.
Dr. Giannelis is dedicated to superior patient care that is founded on clear open communication, timely access to care and teamwork.

Dr. Drew Brueckner
Drew received his BSc. in Biology from the University of Winnipeg and his D.M.D. and BSc. in Dentistry from the University of Manitoba in 1992. Dr. Brueckner practiced general dentistry from 1992-2006 in Winnipeg. During that time he was also an instructor and lecturer for the undergraduate endodontics program at the University of Manitoba.
Drew received his endodontic speciality certificate from the University of Southern California in 2008. Dr. Brueckner has received the American Association of Endodontics Educator Fellowship Award, and was the former Division Head in Endodontics at U of M from 2008-2010. Dr. Brueckner is a certified specialist in Endodontics by the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.
Dr. John Perry
Dr. John Perry earned his D.M.D. degree from the University of Manitoba in 1976. After four years in private dental practice, Dr. Perry undertook graduate studies in oral pathology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1982 he joined the faculty of the University of Manitoba in a part-time capacity while completing a MSc. in the Department of Immunology in the University's Faculty of Medicine.
Since 1985, as an Associate Professor in the Department of Dental Diagnostic and Surgical Sciences, Dr. Perry has instructed in the undergraduate and graduate dental and undergraduate dental hygiene programs in the disciplines of oral pathology and oral radiology. Dr. Perry is a Fellow of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.
Dr. Billy Wiltshire
William Anthony (Billy) Wiltshire qualified as a dentist at the University of Pretoria with final year distinctions in Community Dentistry and Restorative Dentistry, following which, he completed his BChD (Honores) with Dental Biomaterials as his major (cum laude). His first Masters degree, the M. Dent in Restorative Dentistry was awarded, also cum laude, for his in vitro and in vivo work on Resin Bonded Bridges. Next, he completed the 4-year full time specialty Master's degree in Orthodontics, receiving the MChD(Orth) from the University of Pretoria in 1989 and registered as a specialist orthodontist with the South African Medical and Dental Council. Subsequently in 1995, he was awarded a Doctorate in Science, the DSc(Odont) for his research work on "Restorative and Orthodontic Perspectives of Clinical Dentistry."
Academically, Professor Wiltshire served as Professor and Head of the Department of Orthodontics and Chief Orthodontic Specialist at the University of Pretoria until he moved to Canada. Dr. Wiltshire took the exams of Royal College of Dentists of Canada and attained Fellowship in Orthodontics in the Royal College. He is also a Fellow of the World Federation of Orthodontists.
Clinically, Dr. Wiltshire practices as a registered and licensed orthodontic specialist with Kids Dental and the Interdisciplinary Southwest Specialty Group practice in Tuxedo, Winnipeg. He is licensed as a specialist orthodontist in Canada with the Manitoba Dental Association and the United Kingdom with the General Dental Council. He is also eligible for registration in South Africa.
Dr. Carla Cohn
Dr. Cohn graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Manitoba in 1991. She furthered her education, completing a post graduate internship in Children's Dentistry at Health Science Centre, Children's Hospital. Dr Cohn regularly attends continuing education programs to stay current in the latest advances in modern Dentistry. While practicing at Kids Dental, Carla continues to support “hospital dentistry” - treating children under general anaesthetic in the operating room.
Dr. Amanda Huminicki
Dr. Amanda Huminicki graduated with honours from the University of Manitoba with her D.M.D. and B.Sc. (Dentistry) degrees in 2009. Amanda received many awards, including the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) Certificate of Merit Predoctoral Student Award (for an outstanding student in the field of dentistry for children), the American Academy of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology Award, the Dr. Frances Matiowsky Memorial Award (for a senior student with outstanding concern for patients), the Sophie Kanee Memorial Prize in Dental Jurisprudence, the Dr. J.B. Rumberg Memorial Prize, the Dr. William F. Campbell Scholarship in Orthodontics, and the Manitoba Dental Association Scholarship.
She is actively involved in dental research on early caries detection, and won first place in the Junior Category of the CADR-IMHA Student Research Awards in 2008. She was recently part of a volunteer group that travelled to Peru to provide dental care to underprivileged children.
